Police have arrested a Toronto man and seized a firearm following a gunpoint robbery that occurred earlier this month at a hotel in Mississauga.
According to Peel Regional Police, officers responded at approximately 3:30 a.m. on March 7 to a hotel located near the intersection of Hurontario Street and Derry Road after receiving reports of a robbery.
Investigators say an adult male victim was approached by three suspects during the incident. Police allege the group robbed the man at gunpoint before fleeing the area. During the confrontation, the victim sustained minor injuries. Authorities have stated the injuries were not considered life-threatening.
After responding to the initial call, investigators continued reviewing the case and gathering evidence linked to the robbery. Officers later executed a search warrant at the hotel connected to the incident.
During that search, police recovered a firearm believed to be connected to the robbery.
As a result of the investigation, Abdoulkader Abdi, 33, of Toronto, was taken into custody.
Police say he faces several charges, including robbery, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and failing to comply with a release order.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to locate two additional suspects believed to be involved.
Police have issued an arrest warrant for Kimberly MacIntyre, 28, of Mississauga, who is wanted on a robbery charge.
MacIntyre is described as white, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, and about 120 pounds, with a thin build. She has long brown hair, blue eyes, and a birthmark on the left side of her nose. She was last seen wearing a black winter coat with a brown fur-trimmed hood.
Investigators are also attempting to identify a third suspect connected to the robbery.
Police describe the individual as a male aged 20 to 25, with a light complexion and a slim build. At the time he was last seen, he was wearing a black puffer jacket, a blue hooded tracksuit, grey running shoes, and a black balaclava.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the robbery or the whereabouts of the remaining suspects to contact Peel Regional Police. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
